The Order of Malta
For over nine hundred years, the Order of Malta has served the Church in its two-fold mission of serving the sick and the poor and defending the Catholic Faith. The Order of Malta is the oldest Order of Chivalry in the world, and the fourth oldest religious order in the Catholic Church. It is also a sovereign entity, headed by a Prince and Grand Master, having diplomatic relations with over one hundred countries. The Order of Malta operates hospitals, nursing homes and ambulance services, as well as provides disaster relief in third world countries. The Federal Association is one of three regional groupings of the Order in the United States. Based in Washington DC, the Federal Association promotes the mission of the Order throughout the United States.
